About us

We are a small family kennel located in Bonn, Germany. We are part on ICR Verein.
We are just starting our journey with breeding, but what we are already sure about is that our focus is on temperament and health. We want to breed only dogs who passes a wide range health testing and who exhibit best features of Golden Retriever breed and dog in general – versatile dogs, who loves to be human companion, full of energy, willing to work, but at the same time calm and stable.
Dogs we’re breeding are tested for hip dysplasia (HD), elbow dysplasia (ED), eye diseases (HC, PRA, RD), heart diseases and genetic diseases.
And we will also raise our puppies making sure we raise an emotionally resilient, balanced dogs who have every advantage necessary to become your beloved family member.
How did I get the idea to have puppies?
When we got Pinia, 4 years ago, I discovered my passion for everything to do with dogs. I started reading tons of book, attending webinars to learn about dogs in general, dogs language, ethology, nutrition, how to raise resilient dog, how to support your dog when encountering challenges…
And since Pinia is a great dog, well balanced, and shows characteristics typical of her breed (has a typical “will to please”, loves to work, but at the same time loves chilling on a couch), we started considering having a second dog. And so we came to the conclusion we would like to preserve her line and all of her best characteristics combined with our knowledge about rising resilient puppies. When all her test results came out positive, we found a great partner for her, complementing her attributes. We believe that this gen fusion combined with our knowledge about dogs and rising puppies, will allow to create a wonderful life companion for you.
Considering we would like to keep one of the puppies for ourselves, you can be sure we will do everything to raise healthy and happy puppies.
Where does the name of our kennel come from?
If you’re wondering where does the name of our kennel come from, here is a short story. We come originally from Poland. In Polish, our surname, Szyszka, means simply (Tannen)Zapfen. I guess you see where I’m going with this. But, there is more.
Both me and my husband, love Italy. We love the country, people living there, language, cuisine, coffee, design, cars… You name it. So where we were supposed to choose the name of our first dog, the choice was easy. Pinia means in Italian Szyszka / Zapfen. Therefore Pinia von Zapfen!
